Greetings from Dyer, Indiana, U.S.A.!

I am enjoying my time here, visiting and meeting with the professors of Mid-America Reformed Seminary (MARS), as well as with ministers and office-bearers of the United Reformed Churches in North America (URCNA). This is an implementation of an ecclesiastical decision that we made on May 13, 2011 that in our “Theological Training Program… the teachers will be ministers and professors of theology of the Canadian and American Reformed Churches (CANRC), Free Reformed Churches of Australia (FRCA), United Reformed Churches in North America (URCNA) and other confessional Reformed churches.” We have already been working with FRCA and CANRC professors and ministers since 2011, and we intend to continue doing so. In the same way, we must now begin working more closely and strategically with our brothers in the URCNA.

I have already met with 4 professors and 1 church council. I still have 10 or more church visits and meetings to make during this trip.

So far, the response of our Reformed brothers in this family of churches is very encouraging. In an e-mail, for example, that Dr. Alan Strange, Professor of Church History, Registrar and Theological Librarian at MARS, sent to me after our meeting, he wrote:

“Glem, what a pleasure it was to get to know you a bit and to break bread with you. I thank God for you and the wonderful things that He has done in your life (and in the life of others through you).”

Please pray that the Lord would continue to open doors towards the establishment of strategic partnerships with URCNA congregations in the area of theological training and mentoring for pastors and mission workers in the Philippines and beyond.

About New Hope

We are a community of people who believe in and live for Jesus Christ. We embrace and proclaim the Gospel as taught in the Bible and explained in the teachings of the Reformation: Salvation is by grace alone (sola gratia) because of Jesus Christ alone (solus Christus), received through faith alone (sola fide), based on the teachings of the Bible alone (sola scriptura), all for the glory of God alone (soli Deo gloria). SALVATION IS BY GRACE ALONE, THROUGH FAITH ALONE, BECAUSE OF JESUS CHRIST ALONE, BASED ON THE TEACHINGS OF THE BIBLE ALONE, ALL FOR THE GLORY OF GOD ALONE.
